Blow Molding Manufacturer: An Introduction to Blow Molding

Blister packaging manufacturer Blow molding is one of the most commonly used forming methods in plastic packaging; it is a processing technique that targets plastic sheets. By the 1980s, blow molding had become widespread throughout China. Over the past decade, continuous improvements to blow‑molding equipment have addressed issues related to temperature control and drive mechanisms, resulting in significant advances—particularly for PET products—where brightness, uniformity, and precision have all been enhanced.

Blister packaging manufacturer : The basic equipment for thermoforming machines is as follows

  1. Clamping System

When the plastic sheet is formed, it is secured to a clamping device. In vacuum‑formed thermoforming machines, clamping devices that facilitate the fixation of sheets of various sizes are commonly employed to ensure a sealing function.

  2. Heating System

One of the first steps in thermoforming is heating the sheet to soften it into a pliable plastic material. Electric heating involves transferring heat through thermal radiation.

  3. Vacuum System

The vacuum system consists of a vacuum pump, an air receiver tank, valves, piping, and a vacuum gauge. The vacuum pump generates the requisite vacuum level, providing the driving force for bubble formation.

  4. Cooling System

Finished parts produced by vacuum thermoforming must be cooled before demolding. Select molds equipped with built-in cooling coils. Air cooling can be used in place of water cooling (e.g., for plaster or copper molds).

  5. Demolding System

Demolding is the process of removing the finished part from the mold. Since the cooling time of the part has been shortened and it tends to stick to the mold, demolding is achieved by blowing air in the reverse direction through vacuum suction ports. In particular, for molds with small draft angles or for cavity molds, it is advisable to employ both a release‑agent back‑gap mechanism and vibratory demolding.

Blow-molding molds can be categorized into male molds, female molds, and high‑and‑low molds. The raw materials used for these molds also include aluminum molds, plaster molds, copper‑plated molds, and others, depending on the product design and application requirements.

Blister packaging manufacturers: Common materials used for blister-packaged products include PET (polyester), PVC (polyvinyl chloride), PS (polystyrene), and PP (polypropylene).

  Polyester plastic

It has a hard texture, excellent toughness, is tear‑resistant, and boasts high strength. Its surface is glossy, it is impermeable, weather‑resistant, and exhibits good chemical stability; it is resistant to acids and organic solvents, can withstand high‑temperature absorption, tolerates immersion in hot water, and resists alkalis. At elevated temperatures, it shrinks, with a melting point of approximately 50°C.

Identification by combustion: flammable, can be drawn into filaments, and the edges turn white. Density: 1.36 g/cm³.

  Polyvinyl chloride: Polyvinyl chloride

This sheet material exhibits high toughness, poor hardness and solubility, and is stable in both organic and inorganic acids, bases, and salts. It is resistant to ignition by sparks, weather‑resistant, and possesses excellent dimensional stability.

Identification by combustion: The flame is yellow-green, with black smoke and a pungent acidic odor. Density: 1.4 g/cm³ Polystyrene

Low density, lightweight, environmentally friendly and non‑toxic, highly plastic, with poor toughness, high brittleness, prone to cracking and tearing, low impact strength, readily decomposes upon contact with water, and exhibits excellent antistatic and conductive properties.

Blister packaging manufacturers: Blister-packaged products are commonly used in everyday life—such as transparent packaging for hardware tools in supermarkets, inner support trays for cookie packaging, and individual packaging boxes for disposable dumplings—all produced using blister‑forming technology.
